Mogadishu (HOL) - Gunmen armed with pistols killed Southwest
regional state member of parliament Ibrahim Abdi Abdirahman in Mogadishu on
Wednesday night.
Southwest State leader Abdiaziz Laftagareen condemned the
killing of the lawmaker, who had been in Mogadishu for work in the past few
days.
President Laftagareen blamed the al-Shabab group for the
killing of MP Ibrahim Abdi Abdirahman. He described the deceased MP as one of
the people who played a major role in peace, government building, and
reconciliation efforts in the Southwest.
"I am asking God to make his abode in Jannatul
Firdowsa, and give patience and faith to his family and the general Somali
people," said the president of the Southwest Administration, Abdiaziz
Laftagareen.
No group has claimed responsibility for the killing, but
al-Shabab usually targets Somali politicians.
