Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Police Chief General Sulub Ahmed Firin held a meeting with Somali clerics in Mogadishu on Saturday to discuss enhancing community awareness and cooperation between the police and the clerics.During the meeting, some scholars praised the police's
efforts against young people spreading immorality and indecent videos on social
media.
The clerics also commended the Commander for his decision to
equate the memorization of the Qur'an with holding a secondary school
certificate for joining the Somali Police Force.
Last week, the Somali police arrested 21 social media
influencers, both male and female, accused of spreading clan-based insults and
"bad behavior" online.
The police claim these influencers were causing
"disorder and discord" in the community. Most of those arrested
remain in custody, awaiting court proceedings.
