Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud re-opened the National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting at the presidential palace in Mogadishu on Sunday to address security, state-building, and elections.
The high-level meeting resumed amid strained relations between Somalia's federal government and regional administrations, with Puntland and Jubbaland leaders boycotting the NCC meeting.
The NCC meeting initially commenced on October 2 but was disrupted after Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe withdrew, citing the exclusion of Puntland and Khatumo regions from the talks as a threat to election credibility.
Madobe's absence today underscores ongoing tensions, while Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni continues his boycott of the NCC, further challenging federal efforts to unify regional states under the council's directives.Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre,
