Mogadishu (HOL) — The Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr. Ahmed el Tayyeb, and Somali Ambassador to Egypt, Ali Abdi Aware, met on Sunday to discuss deepening educational and religious collaboration.
Dr. Tayyeb emphasized the longstanding partnership between Al Azhar and Somalia, noting that over 2,400 Somali students are currently enrolled in Al Azhar's educational institutions.
"The deep ties between Al Azhar and Somalia are reflected in our shared goals of promoting peace and understanding through education," Dr. Tayyeb said. He emphasized Al Azhar's ongoing support for Somalia, including the training of Somali imams and preachers, as a crucial part of this partnership.
