Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with a Turkish delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Prof. Burhanettin Duran on Monday in Mogadishu to discuss bilateral relations and strategic cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strong and enduring ties between Somalia and Türkiye, emphasizing collaboration in key sectors. President Mohamud deeply appreciated Türkiye’s continued support, highlighting the historic and fraternal bond between the two nations.
Earlier, Deputy Minister Duran met with Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations, expand partnerships, and enhance cooperation across strategic sectors.
Duran also conveyed greetings from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to advancing the Ankara Declaration, signed on December 11, 2024. Both sides stressed the importance of implementing agreements in key areas, including defense, investment, fisheries, and natural resources.
