Qatar Charity distributes food baskets in Somalia, Chad

    Qatar Charity (QC) is continuing the distribution of food baskets to the most vulnerable families and those of sponsored orphans across several countries worldwide.

    This distribution is part of the QC’s "Giving Lives On" campaign, launched at the start of the current Ramadan season (1446 AH – 2025), aimed at promoting solidarity and compassion.

    A total of 7,100 families in Somalia and Chad have benefited from these food baskets.

    The Ramadan food basket distribution campaign in Somalia was officially launched by Qatar's ambassador Dr Abdullah bin Salem al-Nuaimi, alongside Somali Minister of Family and Human Rights Khadija al-Makhzumi.

    The campaign targeted over 6,200 families facing severe living conditions.

    Dr al-Nuaimi commended Qatar Charity's leadership in providing essential aid to the Somali people across various states, praising its efforts in improving living standards and fostering community development.

    Al Makhzumi also praised the initiative, emphasising that it comes at a critical time when many Somali families are in dire need of food assistance during the holy month of Ramadan.

    "This initiative embodies the values of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual co-operation, reinforcing the bond between nations,” she said. “We express our deep gratitude to Qatar Charity and the State of Qatar for their continuous support of struggling families in Somalia."

    In Chad, the distribution of Ramadan food baskets was carried out with the involvement of 15 volunteers who were former orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity, having outgrown their sponsorship.

    A total of 875 food baskets were distributed, benefiting more than 6,118 people.
