Education and Early Career
Following Somalia's independence in 1960, General Maxamed Saalax Sayid pursued a military education at the Egyptian Military College (الكلية الحربية), graduating in 1964. This foundational training prepared him for a career marked by distinguished service. He began his public service as Commissioner of Baidoa, quickly rising to prominence in national governance and diplomacy.
Career Achievements
Commissioner and Governor of Baidoa (1964–1970)
Appointed Commissioner of Baidoa in 1964, General Maxamed Saalax Sayid worked tirelessly to stabilize the region. His focus on infrastructure development, community cohesion, and improved governance earned him wide respect. Promoted to Governor in 1967, he continued to enhance public services, prioritizing regional development and unifying communities until 1970.
Governor of Afgooye (1970–1974)

Somali Military Attaché in Moscow (1974–1978)
